Claim For Me was created because we know first-hand how difficult and stressful the benefits system can be — especially when you’re dealing with illness, caring for a loved one, or supporting an elderly parent.

Around ten years ago, when my dad became seriously ill, I was responsible for helping him apply for benefits such as Attendance Allowance and Carer’s Allowance. At a time when our family was already under emotional strain, we also had to deal with long forms, complicated questions and constant worry about whether we had filled everything in correctly.

Like many people, I remember the stress of waiting weeks for a response, only to have forms sent back because something wasn’t completed exactly right. Each delay meant more uncertainty, more chasing, and more pressure at a time when our focus should have been on my dad, not paperwork.

What stood out to me most was the constant “what if” — what if we’ve missed something, what if we’ve said the wrong thing, what if this causes delays, and what if support is delayed.

Sadly, this is still the reality for many families today.

That personal experience is what led to the creation of Claim For Me.
